| Dear Mr. Lucas: I am excited about the Lucas learning program. All but two of my eleven students in my test class were going into kindergarten. I saw them all change from pre-schoolers to beginning readers in a short time, and they loved it. It was easy for them to visualize the letter friend and to remember its sound and action. Using the children to act out each word and to visibly see the letters and sounds blend together was a tremendous help. Blending became a fun mystery to solve, not a problem to overcome. I am a certified reading specialist, and I can visualize this program putting me out of a job. Most children using this program won't have the reading disabilities that children in other programs seem to have. I worked with a reading disabled first grader (going into second grade) this summer, and I taught him all the Lucas sounds and actions. He referred back to that continually for word attack as he previously had nothing to fall back on that he could readily remember. He made great gains in his reading ability because of the Lucas sounds and actions. I heartily recommend this program to anyone interested in changing to a visual phonics program that really works.
